Respighi was an italian composer (1879 - 1936) strongly influenced first by his teacher Giuseppe Martucci and later by the russian Rimsky Korsakov. His compositions are vivid and full of collor like russians composers. Besides all his important orchestral works his genius made one of the most beautiful Violin & Piano sonata ever. And we know that all great composer have created beautiful sonatas in the last two centuries. That is not only my opinion, but also of many musicians........
There is one great recording of that Sonata, played by Krystian Zimerman and K.W. Chung. Both musicians are really outstanding in that remarkable recordind made for Deutsche Grammophon in 1989.
Its worth to hear it.
